The Future is Now: Biology Education in the 21st CenturyThis is a featured page

VISION

Our vision is to build a well-organized repository of the most useful scientific visualizations (photos, diagrams, videos, animated simulations) to support molecular literacy in biology education grades 5-12.

MISSION

I. We collect and review links to the best educational multimedia for teaching biology that are both highly engaging and visually-impressive.
II. We organize the links by the fundamental concepts and major themes found in the molecular biological sciences.

III. We develop logically coherent and developmentally appropriate learning progressions that serve as a basis for the vertical alignment of topics that build molecular literacy from 5-12.

IV. We network across the State of NC and beyond in a worldwide professional learning community.

V. We provide science teachers with tips and suggestions for use of these visual resources in the classroom.

PEDAGOGICAL VALUES

  1. We value developing a supportive collaboration that fosters creativity, innovation and continual growth both as individuals and as a learning community.

  2. We continually share and adopt the latest educational technologies and best practices grounded in educational research and the practicalities of real-world classrooms.
